Located within the Kane County Judicial Complex, the Kane County Law Library is open not only to attorneys and government employees, but to the public as well. Patrons may frequent the library Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or Wednesdays between 8:30a.m. and 8:00p.m.  Though mainly a reference library housing the County's core of legal research materials, some publications may be checked out for up to a two week period. The library also offers the service of inter-library loaning items that are not within it's own collection.  A copier is available for public use for a minimal fee.

Funding for the library is maintained primarily through a $13 fee from every new civil case filed with the Circuit Clerk's Office.

Towards the fulfillment of our vision and in furtherance of our governing statute (55 ILCS 5/5-39001) it is the mission statement of the Kane County Law Library to:

• Assist all our customers in their effort to use the legal system effectively and efficiently
• Provide access to legal and governmental information in the most cost effective manner
• Continue to educate ourselves and our customers about new technologies and services
• Act as a support unit not only for the Judiciary, county personnel and those in legal professions, but for the public and all of its various members.
• Create positive contact between our customers and the legal system
